06/09/20. Another old bike repaired and ready to be used instead of the car.

This bike is used by it's owner to get to the station where it gets left all day. A perfect station bike - he only paid £10 for it, so he won't be too upset if it's not there at the end of the day. But it still needs to work safely for him.

Interesting problem - the seat post kept sinking. He'd replaced a damaged post with a new one of the correct diameter but it still wouldn't hold.

Here's the problem - frame tube and clamp lugs cracking, preventing proper clamping

Original clamp lugs cut off and ground back and a collar clamp installed. The exisitng cracks in the frame are now in compression rather than tension so should stop the cracks growing.

18/08/20 Another bike back on the road thanks to the Fix Your Bike scheme (Actually this one went back on the road a couple of weeks ago but I've been a bit slack updating the website)

08/08/20 Taking time out from fixing bikes to enjoy riding my bike through the Yorkshire Dales

04/08/20 Another bike back on the road thanks to a Fix Your Bike voucher. This lovely classic Raleigh will now see regular use for short local trips. That means one less car on the road in Nuneaton, helping make our streets safer, our air cleaner and its proud owner a little bit healthier.
